My research focuses on both sides of entrepreneurial opportunities – how potential entrepreneurs create them and how investors select them. In studying these, I employ knowledge and learning perspectives at the individual and firm levels. At the individual level, I examine the nature of opportunities as well as the individual-context interaction from which they emerge. At the firm level, in the context of venture capital investing, I examine the knowledge, social, and ecological factors that affect portfolio selection and performance.
