The Measure Network™
Enables managers to better define value...
The Measure Network™ is a management and measurement system that:
- Clarifies
precisely how a business creates value for stakeholders in an
easy-to-understand structure
- Defines the specific business activities that
are most important in the delivery of that value
- Describes
the many cause-and-effect relationships that exist between business
process characteristics and specific components of value so that
individual managers can prioritize their actions to maximize corporate
value creation
Each individual cause and effect is called a value
path. The sum of an organization's value paths makes up a Measure
Network™ - a strategic map of the organization's competitive positioning
and ability to deliver value. |
 |
and measure their ability to deliver it
Unlike most scorecards, the Measure
Network first describes specifically what the organization wants
to accomplish, and then defines the measurable data that will provide
information to managers about its success.
- Managers try first and foremost to create value, and
recognize that performance measurement results are an informational
tool, not the end-all objective of the organization
- Measures of each value component and process characteristic
are chosen based on several key factors such as cost of collection,
quality and availability of data, and correlation to the specific knowledge
that is desired
The Benefits of a Better System
The organization-wide knowledge that results from a Measure
Network enables managers to:
- Cut costs and improve productivity by better allocating
and coordinating scarce resources
- Capture and keep customers by reacting quickly to
market changes which require adjustments to strategy, deliverables and
process activities
- Provide line-of-sight linkage for employees to the
ultimate goal of the organization - value creation for stakeholders
such as investors, customers, employees and suppliers
